The Space Shuttle Cafe, a one-of-a-kind commercial kitchen featured on the PBS TV show "California's Gold," is for sale.
This unique vehicle is constructed from the fuselage of a DC-3 airliner built in 1944 and flown during WWII and later as a commercial
airliner on the East Coast. The plane itself has a storied history, and because of its intrinsic value was saved from the wrecking ball in
1976 and converted into a road worthy vehicle. The present owners converted the shuttle into a commercial food-service kitchen, which has
operated since 2005.
Although the Space Shuttle Cafe was built to be driven on the road, the present owners believe it would make an excellent stationary
food-service kitchen. Airports, science and space-exploration museums specifically could complement their existing facilities with the
addition of the Space Shuttle Cafe operating as a snack bar or restaurant.
